TTC Knit-along. October 28, 2006

Despite the bleak weather, or perhaps because of it, I managed to get my sorry ass down to the Drake for 9:00 AM to meet up with ttc Knit-along team west. I had briefly toyed with the idea of wearing a costume but decided to just dress 'normally' in a giant pompom hat and striped armwarmers. Perhaps this seems like a costume to most people, but to me everyday is giant pompom day. But I digress.

Last year I brought the (still unfinished) pink socks of despair to work on. This year I decided to bring something a little more ttc friendly. Something that I know that is possible to knit on the TTC since I have been working on them on my commute to and from the dreaded call center where I've been working part time. But I digress again.

So I arrived at the Drake where we learned that the schedule was a bit flocked up, so we had to go to Romni first. I have been on a dreaded yarn diet, so I was prepared to lay down some cash...ok, credit. Happily I stayed 'under budget'. I think I deserve a present for that. Maybe I should reward myself by buying yarn

After Romni, we hit this new yarn/luxury pillow store which seemed to specialize in unbleached llama and chichi attitude. Then we headed back to the Knit cafe but by then, the batteries in my camera had died. We sat and knit for a while, but frankly I was sort of shopped out. Eventually we ended up at the Red Room and then some of us wandered over to Lettuce Knit where we eyed the 200$ knitting bags.

Anway, A good time was had by all (I think)

here I am with a basket full of yarn

I bought all of this. I'm planning on using it all to create patterns. Well, I'm planning, we'll see how it goes. I want to use the 8 skeins of coral coloured 'Mission Falls' yarn for some sort of cropped cardigan, the 'Manos del Uruguay' for a hat and the 'Lang: Tosca mohair' for a hat and matching scarf

I won this yarn (and a scarf pattern) for having one of the best (non) costumes on the west team. I'm not sure what I'm going to use it for but it sure is pretty

finally I didn't get very far on "this". In fact, I had to frog most of what I'd done. whoops!

check me out

Hey, my Clothing Show activities got me a mention from the Toronto Street Fashion Blog

I sort of wish my notebook wasn't in the picture...and I don't just do knitting (as you can see from the totebags). Although I wish I could. Perhaps I will be able to, one glorious day in the future with the help of big bertha the knitting machine.
