New Toy

Here is my new toy. Ok in theory it is a borrowed toy, but it will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine. I just need to figure out how to use it.

Houndstooth hat

This hat is good because unlike the pink hat, it doesn't clash with my hair. I may try to sell the pattern and I am also going to sell variations of it in other colours. I just started one which has salmon pink in it which is a good choice because I won't be tempted to keep it due to the clash factor. I am keeping this one becuase it is a 'prototype'...that is my excuse and I am sticking to it.

The blue yarn is some Galway yarn which I had left over from an evening capelet I made- (which isn't quite finished because I am trying to come up with a sassy trim or edging) and the oatmeal coloured yarn is that Patons classic stuff which I really like working with. My complaint about the Galway is that it either isn't colorfast or it's overdyed so it bleeds when you try to block it. Grrrr.

Silk garden hat

I made this hat out of a skein of Noro silk garden that I got at 50% off. I don't understand the obsession with this yarn. I'll admit that it looks beautiful when it's all knit up, but the spinning is inconsistant. So inconsistant in fact, that when I made a pair of armwarmers out of the stuff they came out too different sizes because one skein was spun tighter than the other. Actually sections of it were spun tightly and sections were so loose that the yarn would break when I tugged on it. I have yet to wear said armwarmers because I fear that my upper arms are too fat.

I am going to try to sell this hat because like most colours, it clashes with my hair. In other exciting news, I took this picture with my new digital camera which was paid for by my old friend VISA.
